Visiting SVYF
You don’t have to wait till an open shoot to visit SVYF. We are extremely lucky that our course of 36 targets is open all year round. We also have an extensive practice area.
Any archer who has upto date NFAS membership is able to visit our wood as long as they are accompanied by a member at all times.
However, if you wish to visit in the run-up to one of our open shoots and after the course has been updated, you are still more than welcome to attend the open shoot, but you would be classed as non-competitive; if you are unsure, please contact us by using the contact form .
Please book your visit by completing the form below and making payment.

The benefits of field archery
Field archery offers a variety of benefits that attract enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. One of the primary advantages is the opportunity to improve one’s shooting skills in diverse environments. Unlike traditional target archery, field archery takes place in natural settings, where archers shoot at different distances and angles. This variation helps develop accuracy, consistency, and adaptability as archers learn to account for factors such as terrain, wind, and varying light conditions.
Additionally, field archery promotes physical fitness and mental well-being. The activity often involves walking through scenic landscapes, which provides a good cardiovascular workout while allowing participants to connect with nature. This exposure to the outdoors can reduce stress and improve mood, making it a great way to unwind. Furthermore, field archery fosters a sense of community, as many archers participate in clubs or local competitions, building friendships and camaraderie with fellow enthusiasts who share a passion for the sport.
